Encouraging Progress thru Courage

forwardBravely aims to facilitate enlightened conversations and spirited dialogue that results in growth which is centered around the power of courage and individuality. For most of us, our careers and personal lives are tightly woven together. At forwardBravely we will recognize, highlight and encourage intentional tenacity, thoughtfulness and empathy to foster lasting peace and change within ourselves and in our community.

March 2022

March 1st is the beginning of Women's History Month and this year’s theme is ‘Providing Healing, Promoting Hope.’ I plan to post a bit more about this later in the month in which I will address the term called, ‘Decision Fatigue.’ Medical News Today says decision fatigue happens when after making many decisions at once, a person’s ability to make decisions declines. The COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated this phenomenon – especially for women and parents. How are you all feeling about the number of things you have to decide on an hourly basis? Can any of you relate to feeling overwhelmed and exhausted by constantly being the decider?

Want some good news? Spring is around the corner. Hooray! Unless, of course, you suffer from seasonal allergies. Hopefully many of us are starting the month off by celebrating Mardi Gras and/or St. Patrick’s Day. If we are lucky (in keeping with the theme of the month) our social circles may seem a bit more stable as we acclimate to a new normal. But, the world outside of our four walls seems more imbalanced than ever. forwardBravely’s heart and thoughts are with the people of the Ukraine as they fight for their freedom and sovereignty. If you haven’t already, check out the story of Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy. His story is inspiring, and is the very definition of proceeding forward bravely as a leader and proud country man.

In other news, forwardBravely was honored to present the ‘Basics of Peer Support’ to the S.O.U.L. II Service in Partnership with Frederick Health Hospice a few weeks ago. We were so grateful for the opportunity and learned so much from the incredible group women who were able to join. The conversations around grief, growth and courage left us humbled and moved by their resiliency. In a few weeks, we are excited to be one of the featured presenters at the NASW-MD Chapter’s Virtual 2022 Annual Social Work Month Conference which is set for Friday, March 25, 2022. Our talk is centered on ‘Grief and Secondary Loss,’ and how increased knowledge about it can better inform our work as advocates. There’s still time to register! Also, be sure to check out our latest blog posts, monthly videos in the forward bravely series. Please help out the social media impaired (i.e., me) and like, share and post about us on Instagram and elsewhere.
